“Go with the Glow” – Glow Zumba

The Division of Behavioral and Mental Health Services (DBMHS) promotes the importance of physical health for Native families and communities. In partnership with Navajo Special Diabetes Project, Go with the Glow Zumba will be held in front of the Window Rock Wellness Center on Wednesday, September 11 from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. Go with the Glow Zumba focuses on physical health by working different muscle groups for calorie and fat burning.

Physical health and mental health are strongly connected. Studies have shown that taking care of your physical health improves your mental state of wellbeing. Ways to improve physical health and promote mental wellbeing include a balanced diet, adequate sleep, and decreasing unhealthy habits such as smoking and drinking. Things that affect mental wellbeing are working too much, being inactive and increased stress.

DBMHS encourages daily physical activities such as walking, running, stretching, sports, workout/ exercise, swimming and other activities. Physical health promotes optimal health and functioning and includes nutrition keep your body in top physical condition. Obtaining an optimal level of physical wellness allows you to nurture personal responsibility for your own health.

DBMHS encourages Native families and communities to increase their physical health by staying active through daily physical activities.
